Convert PDF Pages to JPG for WhatsApp, Forms and Social Media
Updated 7 November 2026 · 4 min read
When to turn a PDF page into an image, which resolution to choose and how to keep the JPG small enough for upload limits.
Why convert a PDF to an image?
Images open instantly on every phone and appear as a preview in chats, while a PDF needs to be downloaded and opened. Some forms also ask for a certificate or mark sheet as a JPG rather than a PDF, and social media platforms only accept images.
Choosing the right resolution
Resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch):
- 72–100 DPI: small previews and thumbnails.
- 150 DPI: clear on phones and laptops — the best choice for WhatsApp and most forms.
- 300 DPI: printing, or when small text must stay perfectly sharp.
Steps
Open PDF to JPG, choose your file, set the resolution and quality, then download a single page or a ZIP with every page.
Staying under a KB limit
If a form wants the image under, say, 200 KB, convert at 150 DPI and then use Image Compressor with a target size. Cropping away empty margins first also helps, because white space still takes up pixels.
Keep the original PDF
A JPG is a picture of the page, so its text can no longer be selected, searched or copied. Keep the PDF for your records and use the JPG only where an image is required.
