How to Remove a Plain Background from Product Photos and Logos

Updated 7 November 2026 · 5 min read

Get clean, transparent PNGs of products, logos and signatures — how to shoot the photo and how to remove a plain background in your browser.

Why a clean background matters

Marketplaces, catalogues and websites look more professional when products sit on a consistent background. A transparent PNG lets you place the same product on any colour, banner or slide without a white box around it.

Shoot the photo for easy removal

The cleaner the background in the photo, the cleaner the result. A few minutes of setup saves a lot of editing:

  • Use a sheet of white chart paper or a plain wall behind and under the product.
  • Light the scene evenly from both sides to avoid strong shadows.
  • Keep the product's colour different from the background — a white cup on white paper is hard to separate.
  • Fill most of the frame with the product and keep the camera steady.

Remove the background step by step

Open Background Remover and add your photo. The tool reads the colour at the edges of the image and removes matching pixels:

  • Increase the tolerance slowly until the background disappears.
  • If parts of the product vanish too, lower the tolerance a little.
  • Add a small amount of edge softness for photos; keep it low for crisp logos.
  • Download the transparent PNG, or choose a fill colour such as white or blue.

Signatures and logos

For a signature, sign with a dark pen on white paper, photograph it in daylight, crop tightly, then remove the white background. For a logo saved with a white box, the same steps give you a transparent version that sits nicely on coloured headers.

Honest limits

This method works for plain or solid backgrounds. Photos taken in a room, outdoors or with a busy pattern behind the subject need AI-based cut-out tools, because the background colour changes from place to place. For those, re-shooting on a plain background is often the quickest fix.
